Services for Douglas Leon Logan, 83 will be12:30PM Thursday September 13, 2018 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. He was born in Athens, Texas to Ruby and Alpha Logan on October 16, 1934 and passed away Saturday September 1, 2018 at Estrella Oaks Rehabilitation and Care Center in Georgetown, Texas. Douglas served in the U.S. Army from 1954 and retired at Ft. Bliss in 1974 as a practical nurse. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal-Germany, Good Conduct Medal on 4 occasions as well as the Marksman medal and Commendation Medal. He was also selected to be on call when President Lyndon Johnson was at his ranch. He was instrumental in setting up the EMT and nursing program at Fort Sam Houston. He married Elizabeth Helfenbein on May 7, 1956 in Ulm Germany. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Beasley and Alpha Logan as well as his grandson Nathan Pratt of the Woodlands, Texas. Douglas is survived by his children Bobbie Pratt and Terrie Jerosch, their spouses, Joseph Pratt and Hans Jerosch, grandchildren Joey Zachary, James Pratt, Leeza Pratt, Julianna Stohs, Alex Jerosch, William Jerosch, David Jerosch and great grandson Cal Zachary. Memorial may be given to the Salvation Army and Wounded Warriors. The family of Douglas Logan wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Estrella Oaks, Kindred Hospice Care as well as family and friends who helped us in his final days. The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Wednesday September 12, 2018 at the Funeral Home.
