

Ed arrived at Ft. Hood, TX in 1983 where he served honorably as a Specialist in the 21st Evacuation Hospital until February of 1987. He served as Qtr. Master and chemical equipment repair, power generator operator, automotive vehicle mechanic and wheel trainer. There wasn’t a mission he wouldn’t volunteer to perform. Ed’s military awards include: Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Sharp Shooter Badge (Rifle), Expert Badge (Hand Grenade), and Driver & Mechanic Badge (Driver-W).
Upon honorably discharging from the Military, Ed worked various jobs and positions until finding his true passion of Business Ownership of “Big Ed’s” Handyman Service. Ed voluntarily participated in PTA, K-Cops, Crime Stoppers Board, BBQs & cook-offs for multiple charity events, sponsored Centex, Roller Derby, Bowling Teams for Killeen High School, and so many other organizations and events in the Killeen Area.
“Big Ed’s” Texas and Minnesota families have always been of the utmost importance to him. His most loved hobbies include motorcycle riding, camping, bowling, Renaissance Festivals, backyard BBQs, music, dancing with his soul mate and best friend, Trudy Schieber, and spending time with family and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edward and sister, Shari. Ed is survived by mother, Beverly Marie Schieber (Berg); devoted wife, Trudy; children: Amanda (Tyler) Horner, Jeffrey (Samantha) Schieber, Jeremy Kosmach; grandchildren: Eva, Maxwell, and Riley Jane; sisters: Dianne Massa, Darleen Huard, Debbie Carlson, Denise Groll, Kelli Schieber, and Abigail Schieber.
Ed left a legacy of kindness, hard work, laughter, integrity, brotherhood, and love. This legacy will forever live on in his family and friends.
Family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday June 2, 2016 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2016 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, with military honors.
