

The funeral service will be held Monday at 1 pm September 21st at First United Methodist Church Killeen, Texas. Chaplain (Colonel) Bill Phillips US Army (Ret.) and Reverend Alison Zollinger will be officiating. Visitation will be held at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home Killeen, Texas on Sunday September 20th from 5 to 7 pm. Burial will follow at 3 pm at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Crawford Bowers Funeral Home Killeen, Texas.
Jim was born in Mannington, West Virginia on October 26, 1921. He was preceded in death by his father, George Wilson Huey, his mother, Mary Huey Summers, and two brothers; Kenneth Raymond and Calvin Perry Huey.
Jim was married to Roberta Allen of Manchester, Connecticut on October 6, 1951. They would have celebrated sixty four years of marriage this October 6th.
Jim had a twenty year career in the United States Army retiring as a Major. He served in World War II, where he was wounded twice and received two Purple Hearts, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the Korean War where he was part of the First Calvary Division surge over the 39th parallel. He was twice awarded the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster. After retiring from the military he had a second career in Civil Service where he participated in numerous Operation Reforger exercises in Europe. After retiring from Civil Service he was elected to the Texas Silver Haired Legislature.
From the time of his childhood he enjoyed sports of all kinds. He coached little league baseball and served as President of the Ellison High School Quarterback Club. Jim was also actively involved in the First United Methodist Church serving as an usher in numerous FUMC districts.
He is survived by his wife Roberta Allen Huey, children: Dianne Lutz (Ron), Nancy McCullough (Dave), Sally Watts (Robert), grandchildren: Todd Bailey (Gara), Robert Watts (Jessica), Lauren Durante (Jim), Cory McCullough, Coleton Watts, James Watts, and great grandchildren: Madelyn Bailey, James Durante, and Robert Watts.
