

Julie Carolina Skinner Edwards, 81, passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2026 with her family at her side. Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A visitation will be held on March 30, 2026 at 6:00pm followed immediately by the memorial service at the funeral home chapel located at 1615 S. Fort Hood St in Killeen.
Julie was born in El Paso, Texas, on June 1, 1944, the oldest of seven children and she lived in the Killeen area since 1971. She was a nurse for over 40 years and during that time was also a foster mother to special needs children. Julie worked at Darnell Army Medical Center in the baby ward, multiple nursing homes in the Killeen area caring for the elderly and for a short time period she was a nurse at the Gatesville prison. Julie was also a realtor in the Killeen area for several years.
Julie enjoyed reading medical journals, books about Indian culture, gardening, multiple how to books and cooks books. Julie’s achievements included graduating from nursing school and earning several additional associates degree’s from Central Texas College in Killeen. Julie’s proudest and most important achievement was raising her four children essentially by herself.
Surviving family members: Daughter-Monica Lopez, Son in Law-AJ Lopez, Son-Ronnie Skinner, Daughter in Law-Sandra Skinner, Daughter-Nannette Dietrich, Son-Paul Skinner, Brother-Johnny Solis, Sister-Margie Rodriguez, Brother-Ricky Solis, Brother-Danny Solis and Brother-Arty Solis. Granddaughter- Jessica Lopez (Husband Dustin Sansing), Grandson-Brandon Skinner (Wife Ashlynn Skinner), Grandson-Kyle Skinner, Granddaughter-MaKenna Skinner, Great Granddaughter-Bailey Skinner, Great Granddaughter-Renley Skinner.
Preceded in death by family members: Father-Alfonso Solis, Mother-Julia Solis, Brother-David Solis, Husband-Thomas (Tom) Edwards, Son in law-Robert (Bob) Dietrich.
