

Mrs. Davis died March 22, 2012, in Killeen.
She was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Hot Springs, Ark.
At the age of 8, she and her mother moved to Brackettville. She later moved on to Fort Clark Army post, then on to Kerrville and then to San Antonio, where she was raised and educated. She attended Phyllis Wheatley High School and graduated from St. Peter Claver Academy. She met and married her beloved husband, Robert L. Davis Sr., in San Antonio.
They later moved to the Killeen-Fort Hood area in the early 1970s.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Pershing Park Baptist Church. She worked with the bus ministry, taught Sunday school, worked in children's church, vacation Bible school, was active in WMU, taught a beading class and was on the beautification committee. She was also church historian.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Marie Davis of San Antonio and Monica Alice Carruthers of Killeen; and her mother and stepfather, Doris E. Perkins and Andrew C. Perkins.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Robert L. Davis Sr.; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Anderson of Moline, Ill.; three sons, Robert L. Davis Jr. of Palmer, Alaska, Michael S. Davis of Arlington and Curtis Davis of Crowley; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family asks that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Pershing Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
