Leonard (Lenny) was born in Black Hawk, Iowa on June 09, 1967, to Florence and Leonard Caldwell. In early childhood the Caldwell family relocated to AZ when his father became ill. Lenny would spend his summers in Nebraska working on his family farm. May 5,1987 in Denver, CL Lenny enlisted in the U.S. Army. In 1988 he met Betty Zammat as a young US Army Soldier. Lenny and Betty connections grew deeply. In 1990 he left the Army and attended Texas State Technical College in Waco and received his certification in Aviation Maintenance. He took an aviation position at Fort Hood in 1993. He made some amazing co-workers that turned into lifelong friends.
Lenny enjoyed bowling on weekly leagues with his close friends. He looked forward to the National bowling tournament each year because he was able to travel and make a mini vacation out of trip. He enjoyed having his son John travel with him and bowl on his teams! He also took vacations with his daughter Amanda and granddaughter Raelynn, traveling to many states together throughout the years.
Lenny was an avid hunter. Teaching his older granddaughters how to hunt and was very proud of having property in the hill country and a place for them to enjoy the outdoors just as much as he did.
Lenny enjoyed being a grandfather more than anything. He loved watching Aubree and Khloe play softball whether it was 100-degree weather in Texas or 30 degrees. You would always find grandpa there cheering them on even getting hotels and traveling out of town just to show his support. He appreciated new technology that allowed him to watch live stream games when he could not attend. The best quote grandpa ever gave me was “believe in yourself” that will forever be with me and help me through the hardest times, Bree. Lenny would travel to Nevada every year to see his granddaughter RaeLynn. Papa Lenny made many birthdays and trips that were beyond special for her. His love for his grandchildren was definitely above all.
Lenny was a committed Nebraska Cornhuskers and Denver Broncos fan. He liked watching his football games and BBQing with family and friends.
