

Her mother was the late Elsie Loo Yim who taught Loretta to be proud to be an American. Loretta graduated from McKinley High School in 1955 and entered the Woman’s Army Corps the following year.
Loretta was also taught to be proud of her heritage. As part of her education, she attended Mun Lun Chinese School. During that time she developed an extensive background in the Cantonese language.
While serving in the United States Military, Loretta’s assignments included Army Chemical Center, MD; Army Engineer Agency Orleans, France; Army Transfer Station Oakland, CA; HQ 3d Army Atlanta, GA; WAC training BN Fort McClelland; WAC Det Fort Leavenworth, KS; Camp Samae San, Thailand and HQ 13th COSCOM, Fort Hood. She retired as a First Sergeant on January 31, 1980.
Loretta was active in community activities and is a member of American Legion Post 223. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. She was also a faithful member of Central Christian Church of Killeen.
She is survived by her dog Bambi and one God-daughter, Margaret Maae. She will also be missed by many other close friends.
Guest may call upon the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 6-7 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Funeral services will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Burial will be at a later date in the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
