Mark Alan Knox, 51, Killeen, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 9, 2018. Mark was born in Wooster, Ohio and grew up in Orrville, Ohio, graduating from Waynedale High School in 1985. His childhood in a rural agricultural community inspired his lifelong love of cattle ranching and farming. He was an active member of the 4H and Future Farmers of America.
Mark enlisted in the Army in 1985 and served with the Military Police at Fort Polk, Fort Drum, Panama and White Sands Missile Range. He deployed to Panama in 1989 in support of Operation Just Cause. One of the highlights of his military service was serving as a Game Warden on White Sands Missile Range.
After leaving active military service, Mark worked for the Transportation Security Administration for two years before joining the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) at Fort Hood, Texas in 2003. He was passionate about law enforcement and rose to the rank of Captain, last serving as the Intelligence Chief for Fort Hood DES.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Mark enjoyed farming, cattle ranching, horseback riding and spending time with his family. Mark was an active member of the Church of Christ of Youngsport, TX.
Mark is survived by his wife, Cheryl, sons Logan and Dillon, parents Gerald and Bonnie Knox, brother Jerry Knox, sisters Kimberly Webster and Jennifer Jerdon and their families. He was preceded in death by his brother David.
Mark’s funeral arrangements are being handled by Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, Texas. Visiting hours will be held Friday, 15 June from 6-8 PM at Crawford Bowers. Funeral services will be held at 9 AM 16 June at the Youngsport Church of Christ, 201 Youngsport Loop, Youngsport, TX followed by burial in the Live Oak Cemetery.
