Funeral services for Ann McClelland Blumberg Hayden, 88, of Humble, Texas will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Atascocita United Methodist Church, 19325 Pinehurst Trail Dr., Humble, Texas with Rev. Leigh-Anne Williams. Interment will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, May 6, 2022 at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Hwy 59, Kingwood, Texas.
Ann McClellan Hayden passed away on May 1, 2022 in Humble, Texas. She was born April 27, 1934, in Gatesville, Texas, the younger of two children of Minnie Claire Thomson and James Edward McClellan. She graduated from Gatesville High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education with honors from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas.
She was blessed to find two loves in her life. Her first marriage to Dr. Randolph Blumberg, in February 1955, produced two sons. Her second marriage to Dr. Carlos K. Hayden, in January 1984, expanded her family to include Carlos’ son and daughter and their families. Ann was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. Growing up, she was involved in local rodeos as a barrel racer and played on her high school basketball team. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT), Colonial Dames, and several garden societies. She loved all animals, photography and her worldwide travels. She actively participated in both of her sons’ Scouting activities, as well as serving as an office manager for two consulting engineering firms. She successfully managed her husband’s company after his death and negotiated its sale nine months later.
She is survived by her two sons Ran Blumberg and Richard (Linda) Blumberg and the families of her stepson Keith (Terri) Hayden and her stepson-in-law John Sharpe. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James McClellan, both of her husbands, and her stepdaughter Beth Hayden Sharpe.
Her family wants to give special thanks to all the medical professionals and caregivers who helped her valiantly fight many diseases, including cancer and lupus. Admired for her contagious love of learning, keen intellect, pointed parody, and perseverance, Ann especially dedicated herself to empathy for all things vulnerable. She prized keeping abreast of current events and world affairs. Ann will be greatly missed for her kindness, her caring, and the generosity she shared with everyone she met.
