

Bridget Berry Burns, 74, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025. Born on August 2, 1950, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Bridget led a life marked by love, dedication, and selfless service.
A Lifetime of Caring
Bridget graduated from the Rochester School of Nursing in 1970 and went on to have a distinguished 37-year career in nursing. She dedicated 26 years to the well-being of students in her role as a school nurse in both New Caney ISD and Splendora ISD. Bridget also worked tirelessly for seven years in Montgomery County, where she played an essential role in opening a community clinic. Her expertise in adolescent psychology and med-surgery hospitals helped her make a lasting impact on everyone she cared for.
An Unforgettable Love Story
While working as a nurse at West Virginia University Hospital, Bridget met Larry Burns, a patient recovering from an automobile accident. Their love story blossomed, and Bridget moved to Texas to be with him. They married on July 1, 1972, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humble, Texas, and shared a beautiful life together until Larry’s passing on December 16, 2022. Throughout their journey of marriage and parenthood, raising two energetic and sometimes mischievous sons, Bridget and Larry shared countless laughs, their love growing stronger with every joyful, chaotic moment.
Family and Community
Bridget is survived by her two sons, Mark (wife Holley) and Scott (wife Haley), who will forever treasure her unconditional love, generosity, kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. She was incredibly proud of her sons, their wives, and her grandchildren, always cherishing the moments spent with them. Known affectionately as “Gaga,” Bridget was adored by her four grandchildren: Brody (16), Brooke (15), Braden (13), and Kyle (9). She is also deeply missed by her sister, Rheda Andre, brother-in-law Charlie Andre, sister-in-law Lora Berry, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Larry, her parents William & Majorie Berry and her brother, Bill.
A Life of Service
As a school nurse, she made an enduring difference in the lives of students, offering care and compassion whenever it was needed. But Bridget’s influence extended far beyond her nursing career. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, volunteer, and friend. Bridget found joy in supporting her sons' swimming activities with the Forest Cove Frogs, where she volunteered with enthusiasm. She was known for her sassy spirit and quick-witted sense of humor, always ready with a clever remark that could bring a smile to anyone’s face.
Faith and Joy
A dedicated member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in New Caney, Texas, Bridget spent many years teaching Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. She took great pleasure in attending her grandchildren’s sporting events—whether it was baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, or swimming—always present to cheer them on. Bridget rarely missed a school play or award ceremony, always ready to celebrate her family’s accomplishments. She also believed that friendships were the essence of a fulfilling life and deeply treasured her friendships, finding joy and fulfillment in spending time with those she loved. One of her favorite weekly activities was attending water aerobics at the local YMCA.
Cherished Memories
Bridget found great joy in visiting her family in Pittsburgh and spent many summers in Galveston, Texas, with her family and grandchildren, creating memories that will stay with them for a lifetime. Bridget Berry Burns will be remembered for her unwavering love, boundless generosity, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to American Cancer Institute or Stand Up to Cancer in Bridget's memory. However, flowers are also welcome and greatly appreciated. A celebration of life - memorial service for Bridget will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59N, Kingwood Texas 77339. A reception will follow at the home of Scott & Haley Burns. All are welcome to join the family for light bites, refreshments and sharing of memories.
