One of eight brothers and sisters
Early mornings and long nights cooking
Caring for his siblings all the while
Listening to rock records with friends
Until war intervened
He left his life to serve the Navy
Countless tales as a captain and minesweeper
A war lost, a refugee to America
Nothing in his pockets, starting all over
Walking to work through the snows of Philadelphia
Enduring the heat of Florida driving bulldozers
The love of his life found him in Houston
She saw his heart of gold, and was his one and only
Happily married, and then they had a son
They set off to Louisiana to make a life for their family
He became a captain of a forty foot boat
Deep sea fishing out past the gulf coast
A self taught mechanic and electrical engineer
He was a jack of all trades with a multitude of careers
The family of three soon became a family of five
A second son and a daughter, bringing more joy to their lives
There were hardships and trials, but he gave everything he had
For his children to have a life of peace, and of wanting for nothing
He cared for his two grandsons, when they came along next
Playing with them until their howls of laughter filled the house
Records playing his old rock music as they danced
A house full of family, good food, and love
He gave everything to his family
And they were everything to him
A loving son, brother, husband, father and grandpa
