

Edward John Cagney, Jr., 67, entered his Heavenly home on Sunday, May 27, 2012 after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Mary V. Cagney of Houston, TX; his sister, Jeanne Marie Cagney also of Houston; his daughter, Jennifer Cagney Clark of Roxboro, NC; and his granddaughter, Ashley Lauren Ricketts of Durham, NC.
Ed is survived by his wife, Denice Cagney of Missouri City, TX. He is also survived by his children AnneMarie Cagney Carlin and her husband, Shawn, and their children Christopher and Lauren Carlin; Stephen Edward Cagney and his wife, Amanda, and their children Matthew, Levi and Brandon Hansen, Arianna, Stephen Jr., and Cody Cagney of Green Forest, Arkansas; Bernadette Cagney Reeves and her husband, Eric, and their daughter, Katelynn; Andrew James Cagney and his wife, Kimberly, and their children, Caden and Gracelyn of Creedmoor, NC. Also surviving are Karen, Hailey and Hope Clark of Roxboro, NC, three daughters of Jennifer Cagney Clark, deceased.
Ed is also survived by two brothers Richard Cagney and his wife, Alice, of Lancaster, Ohio, Philip Cagney and his wife, Sharon of Bluffton, SC and their children Christopher and Erin; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Misitigh and her husband, John, of Kingwood, TX and Maura Leus, and her husband, Steven, of Cape Girardeau, MO. There are two nephews and five nieces surviving also.
Ed was born in Boston, MA on January 27, 1945. After graduating from Hall High School in West Hartford, CT, he entered the U.S. Navy in June 1963 where he served actively for six years with the submarine service. Upon being honorably discharged in June 1969 he moved to Houston Texas to join his family. Ed worked for The Kroger Co., Houston Sports Association (aka The Astrodome), St. Joseph’s Hospital, and American Reality Investments where he retired in January 2011, after 20 years of service.
Ed was an avid sports and music fan. His favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and the Houston Astros.
Ed was actively involved in the community. He spent his time volunteering for the Houston Food Bank, Houston Chevron Marathon and spent Thanksgivings feeding the less fortunate with the Salvation Army. He was a devoted Roman Catholic and a very active member of St. Anne’s community.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Cagney, Andrew Cagney, Richard Cagney, Phillip Cagney, John Misitigh and Michael Misitigh.
Family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, May 31, 2012 with a vigil service at 7 pm at Kingwood Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 9:30 am, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Kingwood Funeral Chapel. Interment with full military honors will be at 11:30 am at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Houston Food Bank, Sunshine Kids, Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) Caregiver Support Group or a charity of your choice.
