Janet E. Strong passed away February 8th, 2022 in Kingwood, TX with Michael and Kelly by her side. She was born in Sheffield, AL, on February 9th 1946 to (Mike) Arnold Young Sibley and Valeria Inez Pennington Sibley.
She went to Sheffield High School in Sheffield, AL and later attended Auburn University and finished her degree in Education at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. She was a Pi Beta Phi Sorority member while at Auburn.
While in Dallas, she was a substitute teacher at Mary Boswell Elementary and worked at KERA-TV before dedicating her life to raising her two children Kelly and Michael.
Janet and Ernie met at Auburn University and married August 31, 1968 in Sheffield, AL. In 2018, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She and Ernie lived in Dallas for 32 years and she volunteered regularly at Michael and Kelly’s schools, sporting events, and numerous groups around Dallas. She was a second mother to many of our friends and family, and was the most caring and special soul. She loved sewing, cooking, pottery, reading, and spending time in her greenhouse caring for orchids and exotic plants. After 32 years in Dallas, they called Tucson, AZ home for another 20 years and enjoyed retirement in the desert.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest Singley Strong, Jr. (Ernie) on March 6th, 2020. Loving family members include: daughter Kelly Luttrell, husband Eric and grandchildren Tyler and Hailey; son Michael Strong, wife Jessica and grandchildren Kennedy, Landon and Savannah; in-laws Lillian and Roy Norris; nephew Jeffrey Norris, devoted and loving cousins Pam and Jim Turner, and Shari King.
