

Jerry was born in Dalark, Arkansas to John Delmas Haygood and Ruby Fredonia Voss. He was John and Ruby’s youngest child and was preceded in death by his parents as well as his older sister Lelia Couvillion and older brother James Curtis Haygood. Jerry is also preceded in death by his youngest son Teska Clifton Haygood.
At the time of his passing, Jerry lived alone with his canine companion Midnight at his “Nine Pines Ranch” near Navasota Texas. He is survived by Winne Sue Desselles Haygood of Porter Texas of whom he was married to for nearly 40 years. His surviving children are daughter Mary Lucille Marek of Houston, and sons Jerry Berle Haygood Jr. of Houston and John Howard Wayne Haygood of Crosby. He has four grandchildren: Dillion Norton, Jerry Haygood III, James Haygood, and Christin Haygood. His great grandchildren include Bella, Beau, Charlotte, Urijah and Sophia. In-laws include son in law Donald Marek, daughter in laws Stephanie Haygood and Peggy Haygood and grand daughter in laws Jessica Norton, Beanna Haygood, and Demetria Escamilla.
Raised in Eldorado Arkansas, Jerry developed a keen mechanical aptitude as well as a passion for motorcycles and the great outdoors. As a young man he excelled in both small engine and motorcycle mechanics and became a motorcycle racer. He won several trophies in racing his BSA, he preferred scrambles and short track racing, he liked to go fast! He also developed his passion for hunting and exploring the outdoors. As a mature father he spent many hours with his children both riding motorcycles and in later years hunting.
In his career path, Mr. Haygood never ventured far from his foundation in mechanics. He progressed from mechanic to machinist then on to engineer in oil related product manufacturing. His expert abilities took him around the world with several extended stays in foreign countries. He retired from Grant Pride Co. on June 19th 2009 after many years of service in manufacturing of Oil field drilling related products.
Mr. Jerry Haygood Sr. influenced and affected many, many people in his 84 years. While he will be sorely missed by his family, children and grandchildren, his unique personality, opinions, and candor will be remembered and missed by many.
