Luis was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, to Luis Napoleón Cabrera Lazo and María Lidia Salmerón de Cabrera. His early childhood included growing up with his four sisters in a family full of laughter and love. From the time he was born, Luis was surrounded by music. As a teenager, he developed the same love for music as his father. He started his musical career as a percussionist in the Symphonic Orchestra of El Salvador. Once married, he lived in Costa Rica and Colombia where he dedicated many years to God, serving as a missionary and faculty member of universities in these countries. He earned his master’s degree in Music from the National University of Chile. After relocating to The United States, Luis served as a teacher at Crokett Elementary where he passed on his love of music and musical knowledge to hundreds of children. Recently, he retired from the Houston Independent School District and planned to continue praising the Lord through his music ministry. He will always be remembered as a talented performer, director, and teacher.
Luis is survived by his four sisters: Carmen, Vilma, Argentina, and Marta; his wife Ana Delmy Cabrera; his son Luis Cabrera Jr. and wife Monica de Cabrera; his daughter Marta Cabrera; and his youngest daughter Nathaly Paiva and spouse Frank Paiva. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Geovanny, Michelle, Benjamin, Anilu, Robbie, Luis Mario, and baby Alex.
A memorial service for Luis will be held on Thursday, September 16th, 2021 from 12:00PM to 2:00PM followed by a gathering at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339.
