Marcie Gene Brennan, loving mother and grandmother, was called peacefully to be with the Lord on March 14, 2014 at the age of 86, with many of her children at her side. Although she moved three years ago to California, Marcie was a founding member of St. Martha Catholic Church where she actively served the church community for more than 30 years. Marcie is preceded in death by her husband, John Brennan, and is survived by her ten children (Tom, Mike, Tim, Chris, Mary, Maureen, Pat, Terry, Anne and Brigid), their families, including sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and her very best friend, Claire Tomlinson. Marcie and John opened J. Christopher’s Pizza & Pasta, one of the very first restaurants in Kingwood, on Northpark Drive in 1980. Marcie spent many hours feeding the homeless and J. Christopher’s donated many meals to Martha’s Kitchen, a special ministry at St. Martha. Marcie’s faith was deeply rooted in her devotion to Catholic teachings. She enjoyed daily mass at St. Martha for many years and was instrumental in launching perpetual adoration at the church. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister at the church and for the sick and was active in Familia and many bible studies. She loved her family and friends and was a prayer warrior for all of them. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Fountain Valley Senior Care in California for taking such great care of mom. We also thank the Wish of a Lifetime foundation for granting mom’s wish to return to Notre Dame where she met dad (“Big John”) more than 60 years ago.
Please join the family for a Rosary and Vigil service on Thursday, March 20 at 6:00 p.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held Friday, March 21 at 8:00 a.m. at St. Martha Catholic Church followed by internment at Houston National Cemetery.
