

MARTHA DOWLEN SIMPKINS, 96, was born a twin and the youngest of seven brothers and sisters, on September 10, 1913, in Springfield, Tennessee to parents Otto and Annie Dowlen. She passed away on June 14, 2010.
Martha was a 1932 graduate from Peabody Demonstration School, in Nashville, Tennessee. She married Buford Douglas (Doug) Simpkins on October 14, 1937, who passed away November 25, 1979. She was a member of the Kingwood Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Left to cherish her memories: son B. Douglas Simpkins Jr. and wife Johnette; son Philip Dowlen Simpkins and wife Holly; son R. Coleman Simpkins and wife Cherri; grandchildren Polly, Philip Jr, Stephen, Susan, Sara, Tim, Christopher, Mary Ann and Collin Jr; great grandchildren Catherine, Hailey, Cole, Drake, Emma, Philip III, Ben, Drew, Kendall, Taylor, Sam and Elizabeth; beloved niece Mary Ann Moll; and a number of close friends.
A visitation will be held for Martha on June 16, 2010 from 6-8pm at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 HWY 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339, with services, officiated by Dr. Bob Roane, on June 17, 2010 at 9:30am in the chapel of the mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetary, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston TX 77079.
