Miriam Rita Meier, age 54, passed away peacefully at her home on August 8, 2019 after a two-year battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. She was born on February 1, 1965 in New York City to Michael and Kathleen Conneely.
Miriam attended and graduated from Bishop Kearney High School in Brooklyn, New York in 1983. She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at Fordham University in 1987 and a Master’s of Public Administration in Healthcare Finance at New York University in 1989. Miriam married William Meier on September 29, 1990 and became a loving mother to her five children: Captain Megan Heddy US Army (Michael), Mary Beth, Thomas, Madeline, and Adelaide. In 2006, she returned to school to receive a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at Fairfield University. Miriam finished her career as a Director of Case Management at Kingwood Medical Center.
Miriam was a loving mother and wife known for her devotion to her family and passion for running, reading, and quilting. Miriam inspired all those around her with unwavering optimism in her fight with brain cancer. Miriam is survived by her husband, William, her children, Megan, Mary Beth, Thomas, Madeline, and Adelaide, and her brother, John (Gail).
