Pedro de la Luz Jimenez M.D.

Dr. Pedro de la Luz Jimenez, 86, of Kingwood, TX, passed away on May 15, 2016. He was born May 29, 1929, in Cuba to Pedro A. Jimenez and Luz Hernandez Jimenez.

As a graduate of the University of Havana Medical School he practiced Anesthesia in Cuba until 1961 when he was forced out of his homeland by the political situation.

Dr. Jimenez was fully Board certified to practice medicine with a specialty in Anesthesia in the states of Ohio and Indiana. As a member of the Anesthesiology Associates of Clark County, Inc., he practiced in Jeffersonville, IN, for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1994. Professional memberships included Cuban Member Society in Exile, American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Academy of Medicine in Toledo and Clark County Medical Society.

In his free time Pedro loved the outdoors and especially salt-water fishing which drew him annually to the Florida Keys.

Dr. Jimenez is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dr. Agnes Jimenez of Kingwood, TX. His children are Luz Schmidt and her husband John Schmidt; Maria Delores “Loly” Jimenez of Sellersburg, IN, and son Pedro “Pete” Jimenez of Deer Park, TX. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

His zest for life, wise counsel and honesty were such special attributes valued by all who knew him.

There will be a memorial gathering for Dr. Jimenez on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North Kingwood, TX 77339.
