I had the pleasure of flying with Phil back in the ‘80s at Continental’s LAX base on the 727, he as First Officer and I as Second. I was, and am, greatly saddened upon learning of his passing. Although it’s been many years ago now, Phil left the distinct impression on me as being a consummate airman — the real deal — and a gentleman and class act, and a great and fun guy. His dry wit and wry smile still make me laugh. My sincere condolences go out to his family and many friends.
