Scott Charles Sigerseth 51, born January 15, 1969 in Huntington Beach, California, passed suddenly on September 2, 2020 in Humble, Texas. “Scottie” grew up in Davis, California and was always proud of and loyal to the Davis/Sacramento area. He was a standout tennis and basketball player at Davis High, where many of his records still stand, and was heavily recruited to play tennis in college.
He attended the University of Arizona on a tennis scholarship in 1987 and was a standout tennis player and lettered all 4 years for his close friend, Coach Bill Wright. He also was a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega (“ATO”) fraternity. Scottie became very close friends with many members of the tennis team, the basketball, football and other sports teams at the UofA and the ATO fraternity. He graduated in 1992 with a degree in Political Science and was an avid supporter of all Wildcat sports.
After college, Scottie played tennis professionally on the ATP tour for 4 years, qualifying to play singles at Wimbledon, and reaching as high as the 226th ranked doubles player in the world. After tennis, he worked in the insurance industry for 12 years, and then transitioned to becoming a very successful tennis pro for the next 15 years. He worked at several clubs in New York; notably at the East Hampton Indoor Club and most recently The Clubs of Kingwood outside of Houston, Texas. He loved working with everyone (and they loved him), especially with juniors, and was well known for inspiring new players to the game and developing high level players.
He was married to Andrea F. Culligan on January 14, 2011 at the MGM Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada in front of his closest friends and family.
Aside from all of his accomplishments, Scottie will be remembered most for his charming and playful wit, a cutting (but loving) sense of humor, a gregarious personality, and someone who loved sports and cherished his friendships. He was also nicknamed “memory” for his amazing memory and stories involving his friends and family, that he told often and with incredible passion.
He is survived by his wife Andrea (and their dog Flossy), his mother Carla, his father Charles, mother-in-law Carmel, father-in-law Paddy, sister Carli, sisters-in-law Nicola and Marie Therese, brother-in-law Michael, nephews Matthew and Carlos, and niece Emma.
