

William Stephen Stinson, 68, of Kingwood, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Bill graduated from Bellaire High School in 1960. Following high school, Bill proudly served in the Marine Reserves while attending the University of Houston where he earned a degree in finance in 1965. In 1979, he became a CPA while working for Tesoro Petroleum eventually becoming the Treasurer. After spending 18 years in the oil and gas industry, Bill spent the next 18 years in the wholesale insurance industry where he became the Senior Vice President for Burke-Daniels Insurance Company. He also served as President and Vice President of the Texas Surplus Lines Association. Bill was a car enthusiast who loved racing, boating, skiing and traveling.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Dorothy Stinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Christie Stinson; sons, Jeff Stinson, Greg Stinson, Geoff Widmier and wife Amber, Todd Widmier and wife Pamela; grandson, Luke Stinson; brother, Jim Stinson and wife Sherry; nephew, James Stinson and wife Stacy; niece, Sharon Lopp and husband Greg.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Holy Comforter Lutheran Church, 1901 Woodland Hills Dr. in Kingwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Comforter Lutheran Church.
