With deep sorrow and heartbreak, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend, Alexis Diane Stager, who left us far too soon at the age of 19 on Wednesday, August 27. Her life, though brief, was filled with energy, creativity, laughter, and a spark that touched everyone who knew her.
Lexi was the dearest daughter of John and Miranda Stager and beloved sister to Matthew.
Granddaughter to Denise Lowe (the late David 2016) and Judith Stager (the late John 2009) and niece to Joe, Joan, Jason (Marina), Jerry (Michelle), DJ (Chantal) and many cousins.
She will be especially missed by her best friend Heran, her beloved boyfriend Holden and her golden retriever Mya. She is predeceased by her other furry companion Evie, just this year.
From the age of four, Lexi found her rhythm in dance. While ballet never caught her interest, she lit up the stage with her love for jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and tap. Movement was her language, and she spoke it beautifully.
Her spirit was fearless. Adventurous and always ready to take a risk if it meant trying something new or making a memory. She embraced every part of the arts with passion, from drama and acting to writing and beyond. Her mind was endlessly creative, although she would be the first to admit she’d rather write a story than read one.
Recently, Lexi found a new joy in playing baseball with her family, bringing her enthusiasm and competitive edge to the field. She also loved game nights—board games and card games were a family favorite, though Monopoly was never her first choice.
Lexi was surrounded by many who loved her. Friends who became family, and family who were her biggest supporters. Her laughter, her energy, and the way she brought people together will never be forgotten. She was looking forward to starting Laurier this fall and beginning that new chapter.
She leaves behind a legacy of boldness, creativity, and a reminder to live life fully and without apology. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we had with her and the light she brought into our lives.
Friends and family may visit Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S on Tuesday, September 2 from 1-3 pm and 6-9 pm. All are welcome to share memories and honor the joy she brought into the world. A Memorial service will be held at Westmount on Thursday, September 4th at 1:00 pm.
Rest in peace, dear sweet Lexi. Dance free and fearless, forever.
Donations in Lexi's memory may be made to the KW Humane Society or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
