She was born Anne Mary Kachur on February 17, 1943, in Creighton Mine, Ontario, a small town, west of Sudbury.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband John Monahan (1977), her mother Mary (1984), father John (1989), brother John (2020) and sister Mary (2026).
Anne is survived by her only child, daughter Theresa Stroud (Rob), her granddaughters, Ashleigh (Dennis) and Lindsay, and her nephew John Biley.
Her greatest joy in life was her family; particularly her two granddaughters. Ashleigh and Lindsay meant the world to her. Upon the birth of Ashleigh in 1998, she relocated to Kitchener and moved in with her daughter and son-in-law to help in the care and raising of her granddaughters. Her undying love, immense pride and fierce protection of “her girls” was well known. She played a large part in them being the strong, kind, hardworking and compassionate young women they are today.
Anne was a lover of all animals, but cats held a very special place in her heart. From a very young age growing up in Hamilton, Anne would bring stray kittens home on a regular basis, much to the chagrin of her father. She had a very special bond with her grand fur babies (Keegan, Calli, Korra and Cooper) while living with her family.
Anne was a devout Catholic with a deep faith in God. Her faith helped bring comfort and peace during many difficult times. We find solace in the fact that she is at peace now and in the arms of her loving Lord.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff at Columbia Forest LTC Home, Eby House, 3rd floor, for their kindness, compassion and exceptional care of Anne. The nurses and PSW’s treated her like family, and in turn many of them felt like family to her. A special thank you to Dr. Chris Johansen for his compassionate care of Anne during her time at Columbia Forest.
A small private graveside service will take place in the coming days.
If desired, donations in Anne’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.

Mom,
The garden of my life is rich because you planted love.
Your quiet voice still whispers peace when I am sad.
Sleep well now, sweet mother, your work on earth is done.
I will miss you always and love you for all time.
After 49 years, you are now reunited with the man that was your only true love and my father. In the sadness of losing you, this brings me comfort.
With eternal love and gratitude.
Your daughter,
Theresa
