Arpine was the beloved daughter of Aram and Esther (Halajian) Semerdjian, both survivors of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Her parents fled Turkey and resettled in Cairo, Egypt, where Arpine was born on December 17, 1932.
Drawn by opportunity and a spirit of independence, Arpine eventually made Canada her home, where she built a fulfilling and comfortable life. Gifted with fluency in several languages, she enjoyed a long and successful career in the insurance industry, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues and clients alike.
Arpine had a deep love for travel, embracing every chance to explore new places, connect with people from different cultures, and experience the beauty of the world.
With her direct relatives living in Egypt and France, Arpine found a second family among her many dear friends in the Waterloo Region. Their companionship, care, and shared moments brought her great joy, and she cherished those bonds as deeply as any family tie.
She was predeceased by her brother Vahe Semerdjian and is survived by her sister-in-law Shoushan Semerdjian of France; her cousin Astrid Constanian(Samir Bahari), and Aline Bahari and sons Youssef and Samir Tinawi of Cairo, Egypt.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Donations in Arpine’s memory may be made to St. Nishan Armenian Apostolic Church in Cambridge. E-transfer [email protected]
Her life was a testament to resilience, grace, and quiet strength — qualities that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
