Beloved wife of Holger “Hogie” Umlandt. Dear mother of Jessica (Mark) Kok and Dean (Melissa Holden) Umlandt. Loved grandmother of Ren, Anya, Seth, Takeo, Jaden, Cyrus, Karai, Phillip, Claudia, and Carter. Dear sister of Lucille (Donald) Dietz and Steve (Marsha) Huber. Sister in-law of Marg Farr, Barb (Doug) Wagner, and Karen Dobson. Predeceased by her sister Arlene (Vernon) Byers and parents Mildred and Donald Huber.
Barbara will be remembered for her strength, determination and unwavering devotion to her family. She took pride in watching her children and grandchildren grow, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with those she loved.
Barbara had an adventurous spirit, loved to travel, enjoyed golfing, playing cards and board games and watching the many sporting events that her children and grandchildren participated in. She enjoyed the many years spent relaxing in their home away from home at the Klondyke Trailer Park in Grand Bend. She leaves behind countless cherished memories that will be treasured by family and friends.
Barbara dedicated 36 years of service to Sun Life Financial, formerly Clarica and Mutual Life of Canada. She retired in 2008 after holding a variety of positions throughout her distinguished career, including Underwriter. She was respected by colleagues for her professionalism, strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Barbara’s family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m., where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Cemetery.
Barbara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
