Catherine "Katie" Dorothy Zensner

It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Catherine Dorothy Zensner (nee Bondan), a loving wife, mother, aunt, cousin and friend. She passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7th at the age of 84, after a brief illness.

Catherine, aka “Katie”, leaves behind her beloved husband, Karl; her children Linda and Robert (Yvonne) of London, ON; her sister Anna-Maria Andrasch (Kasper) of Traunreut, Germany; nephew Marc Weber (Brenna) of Landmark, MB; niece Ingrid Kauck (Frank, Monica) of Kitchener; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Erika and Rudi Liebald of Kelsterbach, Germany. Predeceased by her parents Josef and Katharina Bondan (nee Suck) and her sister Elisabeth Weber.

Katie was born November 11, 1941, in Schoendorf, Romania. She immigrated to Canada with her mother and sister in 1956 and settled in Kitchener. She met the love of her life, Karl, at the age of 17 at the Schwaben Club. They were married on July 23, 1960 and a few weeks ago celebrated 66 years of their love story. She was the HEART of our family. She spread so much joy to everyone she met with her positive attitude, laughter and magical smile.

She loved life and having fun. She was a member of the Concordia Club for over 40 years. She loved travelling, cooking for the family, camping, dancing, Oktoberfest and playing euchre at the Stanley Park Community Centre.

She will be deeply missed by her many friends, especially her lifelong friends called the “Gang”.

The family would like to thank Dr. Khan and Nurse Rona at WRHN-Queens and the staff at 6North and Dr. Plaxton, Dr. Bulloch and Nurse Meagan at WHRN-Midtown for their care during this challenging time.

Katie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, August 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, August 22nd from 11:00 to 11:45 am; Katie’s life will be celebrated in the chapel at the funeral home at 12 noon followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to WRHN – Emergency and Critical Care or a charity of your choice in Katie’s memory would be appreciated by the family. Please note that there is a severe allergy to lavender and lilies. In consideration of this, we kindly ask that flowers containing lavender or lilies be avoided.
