Adored wife of Paul Hempey for 60 years. Loving mother of Caroline (Ken) Zimmermann and Brent Hempey (Tara Proper).
Diane was the beloved grandmother of Brandon (Mackenzie) Zimmermann, Kaleigh Zimmermann (Devon Murdock), Dylan Hempey, Jordan Hempey and Alexis Hempey.
Great-grandmother to Jovie and Myles.
Diane was predeceased by her siblings; Joan (Russell) Graham, Rhona (Phil) Layton, Barry (Anne) Ledwidge and by Paul’s brothers; Ernie Hempey, Tom (Mickey) Hempey, John Hempey and Walter Hempey.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Wanda, Christine and Barbara and will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Diane selflessly volunteered her time following her teaching career. She made many friends and connections wherever she was, whether it be with the Welcome Wagon, or spending her days as a Hospital Volunteer. She was a ferocious reader, loved camping, loved the water (whether it was the beach, lake or a pool),and loved to relax doing her ceramics. She enjoyed music that brought out her happiness, and cheering on her beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to visit on Saturday, October 24th from 11 am to 12 pm at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S.Kitchener. A service in the chapel will be held at 12 pm with reception to follow.
