Beloved wife of the late Bernard Richard Telfer (2003). Loving mother of Teri-Ellen, David (Sandra), Kathleen and Pat (John Myc). Loving grandmother of Amanda, Chelsea (Daniel Graziotto) and Alexandra (Peter). Dear sister of Brian and Steven McEachern, and an honourary sister to James Mabee. Lovingly remembered by her cousins and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Jerry and sisters-in-law Edith, Mary and Patricia.
Dorothy was born in London, Ontario in her parent's kitchen. Her dream was to become a nurse. She graduated from nursing school in 1956. After graduation she worked at Victoria Hospital, then after moving to Kitchener in 1970, she worked at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital (now known as WRHN).
Dorothy spent many summers chaperoning with the Ventures All Girl Drum and Bugle Corps, being a mother to many young girls (and adults sometimes).
After retiring from nursing she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren with Bill.
The family would like to thank all the PSW's and aides that helped Dorothy to be able to stay at home (especially Esther, Kamal, Esther, and Cassidy).
Cremation has taken place. Dorothy's family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 2 - 6 p.m. Interment will be at a later date at Williamsburg Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations would be appreciated to the WRHN Foundation, 300 - 235 The Boardwalk, Kitchener, ON N2N 0B1 or to the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society, 250 Riverbend Dr., Kitchener, ON N2B 2E9.
