Edward lived a long and meaningful life rooted in love, music, family, and community. A proud lifelong resident of Kitchener, Ontario, Edward was never far from the people and places he cherished most.
He is now reunited with the love of his life, Margaret, his devoted wife of 56 years, who passed away in 2009. Together, they raised four sons who carry forward their legacy: Phillipe (Shanta) Ritz, Eugene “Dean” Ritz, Daniel (Katherine) Ritz, and Greg Ritz. Edward was a proud and loving grandfather to Andrew Ritz, Giselle Ritz, Davina Ritz, Alexander (Courtney) Ritz, Steven (Jill) Ritz, Mark Ritz, and Natalie (Noble) Dorion.
Edward also leaves behind his dear sister-in-law Nancy (Harold) Nickmann of Brantford, and many extended family members and longtime friends.
A man of dedication and quiet perseverance, Edward spent 35 years as a letter carrier with Canada Post, faithfully serving his community through every season. His love of music spanned decades as a proud 60 year member of the Grand Philharmonic Choir, where his voice was a familiar and treasured presence. Above all, Edward will be remembered as a man who put family first.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, and in the stories, songs, and memories shared by his children and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Family will receive guests at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre for memorial visitation on September 28, 2025, from 12:30 pm until time of service at 2:30 pm. Edward will be laid to rest with his wife and family at Mount Hope Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Trillium Lutheran Church.
