Faye Lathey

Passed away peacefully February 3, 2026, in Kitchener, Ontario. She was born November 23, 1928 in Crookston, Hastings County, Ontario.

Faye will be missed by her sons Geoffrey (Jude) of Christchurch, New Zealand, and Christopher of Kitchener, her grandson Adrian (Colleen) of Calgary, Alberta, her granddaughter Shannon (Zeb Hoshing) and great grandson Heathcliff of Kitchener, nephew Lorne Lathey of Copenhagen, Denmark, niece Kendra Maynard of Oshawa, and cousin Susan Wellman of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is remembered by Catherine Ambrose, Lynn Vannatter, Pamela Moss and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years Keith Ernest Lathey (2007), her son John Robertson Keith Lathey (2008), her parents Myrtle Elizabeth (Whiteman) and John Robertson Wellman, her brother Arthur Wellman and his wife June.

Faye and Keith spent the early part of their marriage living and transferring between Canadian Forces bases in Canada and Europe. After Keith retired from the military, they moved to Kitchener and began their second careers. Faye spent many years as Executive Assistant with CMHC in Ottawa and Kitchener. After retirement, they travelled extensively.

Faye enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, flower arranging, watching figure skating competitions and good movies, and maintaining the many friendships she made over decades. Keith and Faye moved into Luther Village on the Park where they continued their love of gardening and walking. After Keith’s passing, Faye eventually transitioned into assisted living at the Sunshine Centre where she enjoyed various activities, musical guests, and increased her circle of friends.

Faye’s family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Funeral Home, 1001 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Memories of Faye will be shared from 2 – 4 pm with light refreshments. Private inurnment to follow in the summer.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) would be appreciated by the family.
