Beloved husband of Jean (nee Remenda) for over 66 years. Loving and cherished father of Randy (Denise), Rodney (Michelle) and Lori Ann (Paul). He will forever be missed by his grandchildren Tayler (Cassandra), Nicole (Andrew), Andrew (Alicia), Matthew, Jeremy, Amber (Matthew) and Madeline (Phil).
Bringing joy beyond belief were his great grandchildren, whereby he became known as GGPA. Laney and Lola, Kieran and Quinn, Maverick and Arkham, and just three weeks ago little Nova.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Laurence and Phyllis, his sister Gail and her husband Larry and brother-in-law Jim and his wife Ruth Anne. He leaves behind his brother-in-law Jack and his wife Viv and countless nephews and nieces.
Gary often mentioned how fortunate he was to have enjoyed his retirement in good health, being able to enjoy his family and spend time together were his dearest memories.
Gary loved to dance and dance he did! He would be the first to get up and the last to leave. One of his greatest joys was to be able to dance with his granddaughters at family weddings and theme parties. He enjoyed playing pool at the Breithaupt Centre for many years and was proud of “making the wall” at the centre.
Travelling was a big part of his life and he got to do and go places many people could only dream of. Being in Russia in 1972 to cheer on our team in that momentous game was only the beginning. Going down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon by mule, taking part in an African Safari and seeing first hand the “Great Migration” or walking on the Great Wall of China were just a few of the highlights. Spending ten plus years being a snowbird in Destin, Florida plus twice being a Pinelake summer resident in Bayfield chasing that elusive “hole in one”. His best summer memories were the “fly in” fishing trips in Northern Ontario with his sons and grandsons, countless cruises, train and bus tours, plus many other adventures Gary and Jean took to create a million memories and friendships too numerous to count.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S. Kitchener on Saturday, June 20 from 1-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. To leave an online message of condolence, visit www.westmountfuneralchapel.com
