With sadness, we announce the passing of Gord on June 21, 2026, at the age of 83. After facing illness and its challenges for more than two years, he did so with remarkable bravery, strength, and endurance.
Born and raised in Galt, Gord spent most of his life in Kitchener. He proudly served in the Navy for approximately three years before beginning a long career as a truck driver. Through his hard work and dedication, he traveled across every province in Canada and every state in the United States.
Despite his many travels, Gord's greatest joy was always being at home with his family. He cherished time spent with his wife and children and, in later years, took great pride in his beloved grandchildren. A man of natural intelligence and curiosity, Gord enjoyed sharing his knowledge and life experiences with others.
Gord's interests included fishing, camping, playing cards, reading, and the occasional vacation. He was also an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Gord will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia; his sons, Mike and Jesse; his daughters, Maureen and Kelly; and his adored grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his sisters, brother, extended family, and many friends, all of whom meant so much to him throughout his life. Those who knew Gord best will remember his sharp wit, sense of humour, and the warmth he brought to those around him.
May Gord be welcomed into Heaven by his predeceased son, Jake, and grandson, Kent.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 4:00 p.m.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or the Canadian Red Cross.
