R.I.P van Húng nguyen my cousin...my best friend 1979-2016. New Year's Eve I was at the winter classic and I got a call from my dad that you passed away...still don't believe it you know, doesn't make any sense. You always lived a healthy lifestyle you never did drugs. I just talked to you a couple days before you passed away we made plans to meet up like always when I'm back from New York. You were there from the start, from a little boy to being a 19 year old university student telling you about my modelling dreams and how I was going to move to NYC. 

It was all a dream back then Húng but you always supported me and loved me. You never thought I was crazy for having this dream. From nothing To my win at IMTA To the local newspaper To the Vietnamese newspapers To the Boston Globe newspaper To me speaking in front of thousands of people about my career To Adidas To Monster to the Ford commercial. 

I just wished I could of seen you to celebrate the success as we planned and I wished I could of have given you your Xmas present. You were there every step of the way encouraging me even when there were times I wanted to give up. I wouldn't be here without your love. We may have not seen each other as often as we liked as I live in NYC. You always told me never to take, do or marry SAFE cause you never be happy...you just be OK that's is terrible way to live life. 

You always told me you got one life so follow your dreams, do what makes you happy as you don't know tomorrow. You always taught me to do good cause it's the right thing to do. Not cause I gain good karma or get something back which is absurd thats why most people do good to get something back. Just do good cause it puts a smile on people faces and makes the world a better place. That's why you were such an amazing teacher to me and the students whom you taught! 

You know every time I was back you would pick me up from the airport and we talked for hours and hours we never missed a beat. You always had a golden heart and an amazing sense of humor. I never forget the time when you drove down from Toronto to surprise my little brother for his bday right at 12 am and wish him happy bday. It might a lot to Edward that you did that. 

I miss you and I love you so much and thank you for everything you have taught me. I don't think this pain will ever heal on this Earth, but it gives me comfort that I see you in heaven. I may never understand why the righteous pass before the wicked. But I will see you in heaven my cousin... my best friend. I love you from forever cousin and I will miss you on this Earth.

 I may not understand during this time why Elohim has allowed this but it is said, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9.  Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. Job 1:21

I was bless to have van hung nguyen as my brother. If there is an after life I would always want to be his sister forever. Loosing hung is a big lost in my life. I could never ask for a better brother. Hung has taught me true love. He taught me by showing me he cares through all the talks and walks and just for being there by myside at all times.He is not just my brother but also my best friend. It's very hard to let him go. Hung is my pride my inspiration. He has always been so kind and loving, so considering. 
I have said this many times but I will not stop saying it. I wanted to say thank you to everyone that has been in his life and especially his best friends Salaim, Sandeep and Kazeem and I'm sure there are more. You have brought laughter into his life, gave him his sunshine and a childhood that made up for all his lost. It means the whole world to me to know how much love and care he gets from you guys. Seeing Hung happy and smiling is a comfort to my heart. I know that hung would want to say the same thing to you all, it's the reason why I stand strong to speak up for him, so once again thank you for being in his life.

I've only met Hung a few times but in those times he showed a warm and caring personality and  he was a devoted uncle and son.  I'm shocked and deeply saddened by his passing and wish his family my deepest condolences.

I met Hung several times in Kitchener as we had a mutual friend.  He always had a smile and I remember was always friendly and positive.  It is a sad loss and he has left this world too early.  Rest in peace Hung and to the family my sincere condolences.  My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I met Hung a few times as him and my brother hung out quite often. I remember him always being cheerful and easy to talk to. He got along with everyone with his amazing personality and good nature. He had many admirable traits and it's heartbreaking to hear about what happened. My sincerest condolences to Hung's family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Hung was a good friend to me since we met at teachers college in PJ2. I was lucky to be at the same placement school with him during our first placement. It was so comforting to go for walks with him at lunch as we tried to figure out what we were doing. He was enthusiastic as a teacher and encouraged me to gain more confidence in the classroom. Hung soon became a good friend who will be dearly missed. Hung always had a smile and made everyone laugh. I imagined we would be friends for life and I will always remember the impact he had on me and everyone else in our cohort.

My son and I only met Hung a few times over the last few months at Sunday Afternoon ultimate practices for TUC. Even over such a brief time, I could tell that he made an impact as a coach, with his encouragement and enthusiasm for the sport. We will particularly remember his fast feet and sneaky head fakes. With deepest condolences to the family, may you find peace.

Hung was a teacher and role model well before starting teachers college. His positivity and sportsmanship on the field and his kindness and enthusiasm for life  served as a lesson to all who knew him. Hung, you are such a gentle and joyful spirit and will be missed greatly.

Hung - a kind, caring, and genuine spirit gone too soon from this world. I was always struck by his generosity, positive attitude through life's adversities, and how he was the greatest friend to my brother Sandeep, Kazeem, and Salim. I am privileged to have worked with Hung as his associate teacher.  His enthusiasm and caring nature was enjoyed and appreciated by everyone at Cresthaven Public School, especially all of the students he interacted with. The teaching profession has definitely lost a wonderful soul.  I am truly and deeply saddened by this loss but feel very fortunate to have had him as a friend and colleague.  My deepest condolences to Hung's family.

I met Hung while playing Ultimate.  He became one of my very best friends.  He was always smiling, and full of adventure and enthusiasm.  Hung always made people feel very welcome and treated them like family.  He liked getting groups of people together, to do things like camping, trying different cultural foods, beach volleyball games, ultimate etc.,  and making sure they were having a good time.  I learned a lot from Hung, including how to relax and enjoy life.  He was always very easy to talk to, and I found myself asking for his advice often, as he was wise beyond his years.  Hung also had a soft spothis familywhom he talked about often and loved unconditionally.    You'll be missed bud, and your teachings will never be forgotten.  My sincere condolences to his family, and everyone else that he thought of as family.

We knew Hung aka "Pirate" through ultimate frisbee.  He was new to the KW area and wanted to play so we welcomed him with open arms to join us.  He was always smiling, laughing, and enjoying life.  We would like to offer our deepest condolences to his family during such a tragic and sad time.  Pirate will be sorely missed on the frisbee fields but will always be remembered in our hearts. My most heartfelt condolences to Hung's family and friends. I was Hung's university liaison and Foundations instructor for 3 semesters at UOIT. Hung was a teacher candidate in the first cohort of the new BEd program. I had the pleasure of visiting Hung in his 3 practicum placements and watching him grow into the role of teaching. From the beginning, it was clear Hung was a compassionate, student-centered teacher who cared about his students and their learning experiences. I recall his excitement when he showed his students his sports shoes with cleats, and some of them later wrote about these in their journals. He was very thoughtful about this lessons and really wanted the students to have positive experiences. In his placements, he quickly became involved in extracurriculars and was known to have brought technology into the classroom. His teacher candidate colleagues thought highly of him, but what really stands out was his kind-hearted nature, his positive outlook and his smile. He was a shining light in the PJ2 family. I think Brendan, in an earlier comment, put it really well - Hung was an incredible teacher who was aspiring to do great things. I, too, am deeply upset about this news and I, too, will be paying tribute and honoring Hung throughout my teaching career.

It is with great sadness that I offer my most heartfelt condolences to Hung's family and loved ones.  As classmates at UOIT, we collaborated on various assignments where his passion for teaching and learning, particularly for the natural world, was evident. It was an honour to have met Hung.

A kind, friendly and enthusiastic person- Hung left a great impression around those who knew him. The children that he worked with at Finch adored his gentle and loving demeanor.  Hung always made time to talk and treated people with kindness. I will miss him. Sending peace and comfort to family and loved ones at this time. Hung, you will be remembered fondly.

I had the honour of working with Hung at Finch Public School this past fall.  I am shocked and saddened upon hearing of his untimely death.  My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.  I am so sorry for their loss.

Hung was a classmate at UOIT. What I knew of him was that he was a great man, with a kind soul. Wherever he went, he left happiness in his wake. God be with you Hung, may you find peace.

I remember asking myself many years ago how. I asked myself this question because of the person I saw Hung as. Always so positive , hopeful and advocating healthy living in my perspective. Maybe it's because everytime I met Hung we were playing ball or volleyball. He always seem to amaze me with his skills inside and outside of him self. I think that's why I always thought of him as a well rounded person.  As I challenge myself to better my inner thoughts and outter skills I am saddened within to know such a man is gone so soon. My deepest condolences to Hung's family. May he be protecting you from up above. I will move on to appreciate the wisdom he shared with me and the times we had. I hope that one day I can be there and express the same wisdom for someone else as he did for me.

Hung was a student in my Reflective Practice course at UOIT this past term. I was deeply saddened by his passing. He was a gentle soul with a big smile, and would have been a wonderful teacher. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Hung was kind and giving person with a gentle soul.  His passion for teaching was evident.  I'm in disbelief that he has left us this early in his life.  My sympathy to his family and friends.  We will miss him at Finch PS.  I pray he is at peace.

Hung was a teacher candidate in my Primary Junior Health and Physical education class. His energy and enthusiasm were remarkable and he would have been a terrific teacher. He also volunteered his time as a leader and I recall him helping me set up my mother's donated Xmas tree at the faculty for winter holidays. I recall him speaking with great love and respect about his own family that day. He carried himself with great honour and brought a positive spirit to his chosen profession. We met Hung several years ago at a gathering in our home. He was a quiet & very gentle person indeed ! We talked about going fishing/ice-fishing this year. Wish that we have planned that earlier ! Our deepest condolences to Hung's family & his loved ones !! Rest in Peace !

I am so sorry to hear the death of Hung Nguyen. Hung was our student teacher at Finch P.S. His passion is to make the staff and students happy. Bringing healthy treats for the staff and talking to them to find out how they are doing, making sure that everyone gets something to eat from the treats. I cannot imagine, this is a very shocking news to me. He will be truly missed by his classroom teacher and the students at Finch P.S. I am still shocked to hear this sad news. May his soul rest in peace - Amen

I met Hung briefly in our Bachelor of Education program. We were in different divisions and therefore did not cross paths much. During the last week of school this semester, I attended Hung's session for a class that I had missed earlier in the week. I didn't know many people in the class, and Hung warmly welcomed me to sit with him and his group of friends. From our brief interactions throughout the program, I remember he was kind, welcoming, had an energy for life and a passion for teaching. Hung made an impact to everyone he encountered. My most sincere condolences to the family, I am very sorry for your loss.

My fondest memory was at a family get together, and I got lost coming home from the park. He ran all the way back as fast as he could to come find me, giving me a piggy back ride back. I was so scared, but when I saw him I was so happy. Rest in peace Uncle Hung.

I met Van during undergrad. He was so kind and appreciative of other people and always made others feel valued. He had a zest for life and was always down to do anything fun outdoors. I'm happy to have gotten to know him.

I am at a loss for words... I only knew this man for a very short time, and wish now we could have another conversation. He truly cared about what we were doing around campus, and how everyone was being impacted. Hilarious and always positive, guaranteed to put a smile on my face each meeting. An incredible teacher who was aspiring to do great things. I am deeply upset about this news and I will be paying tribute and honoring Hung throughout my teaching career. Please know that the entire student body at the Faculty of Education remembers you Hung. You made a positive difference in the family, students and friends lives around you. Please watch over us all. I will never forget the hours you spent on the phone with me worried about a family issue that you wanted to help with so badly. You were a very honorable brother. You were a very kind person, so friendly and fun. You were my co-godparent to Cruz, and you will be dreadfully missed. Hung was a kind soul with an infectious smile and laugh.  He was always generous with friendly tips  during our weekend Ultimate matches and beach volleyball games.  My most vivid memory of him was his enthusiasm and optimism when we briefly explored the idea of inventing a self-inflating volleyball.  He really wanted the idea to fly.   A while ago, he organized an online donations campaign to take a group of underprivileged kids on a field trip.  His selflessness touched me unexpectedly on the other side of the country and my only regret is that I did not tell him so.  Rest in peace my friend.

I know Hung from our weekly Sunday pickup frisbee games years ago. He will always be remembered as the guy full of energy and speed that made the game fun and enjoyable. You'll be missed, Hung.

I knew him few years, he was a volunteer for vacation bible school 2 years ago for our church, such reliable, accountable and honorable person I ever met. Such great lost this potential young fellow.
