Ina Somers

On Thursday Aug 13, 2026, Ina passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at Lanark Heights, Kitchener.

Predeceased by her loving husband Ken Somers in 2020. Ina & Ken enjoyed many travels over their years together. Ina was talented quilter & an excellent piano player through most of her life.

Loved Mother of Scott & Lynn Nairn of Sudbury, Jeff & Kim Nairn of Waterloo, Ken's children, Rick Somers, Doug Somers (Cindy Venier) & Rexanne Somers.

Grandmother of Anthony Nairn & Jess Hall, Courtney & Ollie Tache (son Hendrix), Curtis & Alex Ferron; Amy & Jeff May (children Rylan, Luca & Lilyanna), Adam Merkley (daughter Quinn), & Andrew Nairn (Athene); Ken's grandchildren Chaz Somers (Payton), Jesse & Hailey Somers (children Brynly, Crew & Kane) & Kelsey Somers.

Born Ina Mae Aikens on Sept 8, 1933 to Rueben & Clara Aikens in Dublin, Ontario.

Predeceased by brother Lorne Aikens (Kathleen), Sisters Ruby Theil (Bill), & Jean Durst (Bill).

Predeceased by her first husband Neil Nairn in 1968.

Survived by sister-in-laws Mildred (Millie) McQuillin (Ivan predeceased) & Marion (Marnie) Somers.

Thank you to Lanark Heights workers for their care of Ina over the last almost 8 years.

Cremation has taken place. A small family graveside service will be held at a later date.
