Karen’s final years were filled with significant health challenges. After a few difficult years of being in and out of the hospital, she finally succumbed to her illnesses, finding comfort in her home with her loved ones by her side at the end. Her family extends their deepest appreciation to her family physician and the specialist on her medical team. Karen was incredibly grateful for their dedicated care, which truly granted her several extra years of life to share with her family.
Throughout her life, Karen faced many difficult chapters, but she always tried the best she could with the cards she was dealt. She poured incredible energy into her career as a Personal Support Worker (PSW), spending her life committed to caring for others in their times of need. It was a profession that required immense hard work and resilience.
At home, Karen surrounded herself with life and quiet comforts. She had a deep love for cats, and throughout her life, she selflessly took in many strays, giving them a safe place to land. Her home was also filled with thriving houseplants that she lovingly tended to, alongside her passion for outdoor gardening, crocheting, and baking. She will always be fondly remembered for her wonderful baking, especially her well-known homemade bread.
Karen was a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt. While life was not always easy, those who knew her recognize the effort she put into navigating her world and the quiet passions that brought her peace. She is no longer suffering and is now at rest.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory can be made to a local humane society or animal rescue shelter, or to St. Mary's Hospital, Cardiac Department.
