After surviving a devastating brain injury in 2013, Dr. Karl Salo succumbed to complications with cancer on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Grand River Hospital, in his 54th year. Cherished by his wife Nadine, Karl leaves incredible memories with his son Grant Salo. Profoundly missed by his stepchildren; Ashley Langel, David Halden and Allanah Dixon. Much loved son of Rose Salo, Karl will be forever loved by his sisters Susan Salo and Janet Salo-Grant (Dr. Jon Grant), and by his best friend Leigh Dixon. Uncle to Jasper and Jacy Grant, he is predeceased by his father Donald Salo and his sister Louise Lanza. Karl will also be missed by his beloved four pound chihuahua Delilah who never missed an opportunity to snuggle with him. Karl was a very giving, kind, and gentle man. His love of the outdoors took him on many hiking and canoeing adventures as a boy and into adulthood, basking in every moment he spent with Mother Nature. Another true passion that he had was the New York Times, Sunday crossword. It was a rare moment when this puzzle was not part of Karl's weekly routine. He loved his family and fellow man equally and wholeheartedly, Dr. Karl Salo will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Private arrangements under the direction of Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, Kitchener, (519-743-8900).
