Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Cheryl (Jim) Cooper, Brenda Whitelaw, Gerry Whitelaw Jr., Robert (Lissa) Whitelaw, and Karen (Gary) Darel. She will also be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Sara Shawcross, her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.
Kathy was the chosen daughter of the late John Becker (2013) and Marjorie Becker (2008). She was the daughter of the late Gerald Whitelaw (1991) and Dorrie Whitelaw (1995) and was predeceased by her brothers Rick Whitelaw (2010) and Glynn Whitelaw (2018).
A special thank you is extended to Kathy's special friend Carol Glazema, and to the staff and residents of Aldaview, who were an important part of her extended family and brought her friendship, support, and companionship throughout the years.
Born with Prader-Willi Syndrome, Kathy faced life's challenges with remarkable resilience and an infectious spirit. She was always smiling and had a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Thoughtful, kind, and delightfully sneaky when planning a prank, Kathy brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She loved spending time with her family and friends, never missed an opportunity for a good party, and was always ready with a playful joke or harmless prank.
Kathy found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved colouring, crafting, animals, and working in the garden. Her warm heart, cheerful personality, and ability to make others smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Though Kathy is no longer with us, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Family invites guests to join them on Friday, June 12, 2026, for visitation at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St., S., Kitchener, from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Memory Gardens, Breslau.
To honour Kathy's vibrant spirit and joyful personality, those attending her service are invited to wear bright colours.
