Mike was the husband of Tracy for 32 wonderful years and a devoted father to Nick (Dakota) and Emma. He was the son of Douglas and the late Joan, brother to Michelle, son-in-law to Douglas and the late Carol, and brother-in-law to Heather (Grant). He is also remembered by many extended family members and dear friends.
Mike was a proud uncle to Jacqueline, Danielle (Travis), Aubrey, and Zoey, and was affectionately known as “The Great Uncle Mike” to Scarlett, Edwin, and Anna—a title he wore with immense pride and joy. One of Mike’s greatest sources of happiness in recent months was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first grandchild, a baby boy due in August.
Mike will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, sense of humour, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to those who knew him, and his memory will be treasured always.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre in Kitchener. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories and celebrate Mike’s life.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate healthcare professionals who cared for Mike throughout his journey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer.
