Sending loads of love and light to all those that loved this beautiful human being.  Although we have never met him, we know Rana and we know the deep love she carried for her dad.

It is hard to find the words to express what Jiddo meant to me. Having lost my grandparents at such a young age, I didn't realize what an incredible impact a grandparent could have. Jiddo showed me a grandparent's love and I will always be grateful to him for that. I loved having conversations with him. He was so funny and had great stories to share. In these last few years since I joined this loving family, it was clear that family gatherings were elevated by his warm presence. I am honoured to have spent time with him and I am a better person for having known him. 

Sending all my love to everyone during this difficult time. Thanks to everyone who shared photos. Sami and I really enjoyed going through all of them and seeing what a rich and fulfilling life Jiddo had. We will be thinking of him and everyone these next few days.

My uncle was only 14 years my senior, in many ways, he felt like an older brother to me. My earliest memories of him are full of admiration, fondness and sometimes awe.
I’ll never forget being six years old and catching him sharing a kiss with my aunt, the woman who would become his wife. He chased me out of the room, laughing. That has stayed with me for decades.
I watched him and my aunt dance and admired how gracefully they moved together.  That instilled in me a fondness of dancing.  Unfortunately, my Peter is no dancer.
As I grew into adulthood, our bond only deepened. We happened to be in England at the same time  which turned out to be a very  special time.  We did a lot of sightseeing and shared many meals with them that Ammo Muttii cooked.  He was a good cook and we enjoyed his falafel and hummus.
I think back fondly on our trip to Paris— Peter and I driving from Antwerp to see Ammo and auntie Yvonne, who were arriving from London. We spent  a few days with them exploring Paris, sometimes getting lost but having a lovely time together. Whether we were in London or Paris, life was simply more fun when he was there.
What I miss most, though, are our phone calls. He was a man of immense depth and a true wealth of knowledge. We could speak for hours, with him narrating stories of his childhood or recalling the history of World War II, or sharing  his passions for music and literature. I was always happy just to listen.
He never lost his charm or that beautiful smile, even at the very end. He was a man of intellect, humor, and great kindness, and I will miss him more than words can say.

Maha Kandalaft

It is my privilege to share a few words about a man who was not just a beloved uncle to my wife, Maha, but a true friend and mentor to me.

I first met Amu Muttii through Maha before we were married. From the very beginning, both he and his wife, Yvonne, offered me warmth and support that I will never forget. 

Mutti was, above all, a master of connection. He was a brilliant conversationalist who could relate to anyone, regardless of their age, on many subjects. Whether he was diving into the complex history of the Middle East—a subject he knew deeply—or chatting about everyday life, he made you want to listen. He had the rare gift of talking about almost anything with grace and insight.

Some of my fondest memories of recent years are the simple ones: sitting with him in a cafe in Cambridge, sharing a coffee or a glass of wine. In those quiet moments of conversation, I didn’t feel like I was talking to an "in-law." I felt like I was talking to a friend.

Mutti, thank you for your wisdom, your support, and your friendship. You will be deeply missed, but your stories and your kindness will stay with us forever.
