Loving mother of Dianne Bramble (Tim) and Laurie Tremble (Jim), and proud grandmother of Anna, Sophie, Luke, and Sean. Dear sister of Carol Macdonnell, Gordon (Mary Jo) Schroeder, Ray Schroeder, Allan (Joy) Schroeder, and Wayne (June) Schroeder. Myrna will also be deeply missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and the entire Goebel family.
Myrna was born on the family farm and attended grade school and high school in Wiarton before pursuing nursing at KW Hospital, graduating with the Class of 1959. The friendships she formed during those years lasted a lifetime, and the women from her graduating class continued to gather regularly over the decades.
After graduating, Myrna spent a year nursing in Hawaii, which was the source of many adventures and stories. Upon returning to Ontario, she worked at KW Hospital. It was around this time that she met Allan (and the entire Goebel family!) at a party at her future in-laws’ house. Once her daughters were born, she worked at a local doctor’s office for many years.
Myrna was a proud and devoted mother whose love, encouragement, and example shaped the lives of her daughters. She was kind, friendly, and quietly stubborn. She was always grateful for her family and friends and wasn’t shy to tell them so.
Nothing brought Myrna more joy than being “Grandma.” She rarely missed a hockey, ringette, or soccer game, school play, or band concert. Her grandchildren will remember her warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. In her words, “I saw my dream of becoming a nurse, a wife, mother and grandmother come true. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Myrna was an enthusiastic fan of all sports, but particularly the Toronto Blue Jays, cheering faithfully through every season. She was also a lifelong lover of card games, a love developed during her childhood spent playing cards with family and friends. She was often heard to say “I have no good cards” followed by, “Oh look, I won!”
Our thanks to the staff at Luther Village, Hamilton General Hospital, and WRHN Chicopee for their compassionate care of Myrna. Special thanks to all the family and friends, especially the Schroeder clan, who were at her bedside and continue to support her family today.
To honour Myrna’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 248 Highland Rd E, Kitchener on Saturday, June 6 between 10am – 12 pm, followed by a celebration of her life again at St. Stephen Lutheran Church on June 6 at 2pm.
