Following her long battle with Breast Cancer, which she battled to the end with grace and strength, it is with profound sadness to share that Nicola “Nikki” Cleeves (Abbott) of Kitchener passed away on Friday, January 8 at the early age of 56 years.

In her final weeks, Nikki was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, of 34 years, Roy Cleeves; her two sons: Jagger and Skyler Cleeves; her brothers Christopher and Richard (Ritch) Abbott, as well as her parents, Karla and Bernard Abbott of Guelph, and her many friends and family, including dear friends and travel buddies, Pauline Delaney and Scott Harris.

Nikki was a ray of sunshine who brought glitter and positivity everywhere she went, and everyone who knew her will be forever changed by her bright light and zest for life. Nikki had a passion for travel and music and had a fun fashion sense that was reflective of who she was as a person. Nikki’s world revolved around her two sons and her husband as a committed mom, friend and wife. She also took pleasure in being around family and friends, and driving around in her Mustang Convertible. Nikki will be missed immensely, but never forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be streamed on Saturday, January 16th at 1:00pm. Family and friends are invited to view the service via livestream. Please visit https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsDtiAAOCdJKcZeH_RykXqQ/featured

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre would be appreciated.

Roy, Skyler, Jagger and family,

We are so sorry for your loss. Our memories of Nikki come from the early years. I (Heather) was just 14 when you first started dating, and it wasn't long before you both brought me to my first concert, David Bowie at the Ex. Of course I could never forget your wedding 4 years later, or seeing Nikki at the hospital with Skyler on the same day that Mark's niece was born.

Our memories may be distant but they are fond and full of love. It was a beautiful service today. Fitting for a person that brought love and beauty to the people that she loved.

Our condolences,

Heather, Mark, Brooklyn and Chase

I didn't know Nikki well, but I knew her for many years and admired her for being the person she was. She was always happy and cheerful and could always shed a positive light on any situation. She worked hard to maintain a beautiful home and have a loving relationship with her family and friends. Nikki was a true mentor to Don when he was diagnosed with cancer, I don't know how he would have made it through this rough period without Nikki's encouragement.
She was precious and will be deeply missed!

Dear Karla, Bernard, Ritch, Chris, Roy and family,

I was surprised to see Nikki’s notice in the paper tonight. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. Please know you’re all in my thoughts.

The first time I met Nikki, was a visit she made to Sears, when I was working with her mom.

I’ll never forget when I first met Nikki. I was a new member of the Cleeves team, and Roy mentioned that his wife was also his partner and so anything she said/wanted/requested, I should do. Needles to say, I was nervous to meet her. But then I met her, and instantly liked her. She was warm and bubbly and outgoing, and she made me feel welcome right from the start. Nikki was a ray of sunshine, and she brightened the room just by entering it. She had a love and zest for life that was contagious. She will always be missed, but never forgotten. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and close friends 💕
