

She was surrounded by her family including her two children, two daughters in law (Carole McDonald (Hardy) and Anna Copeland, family and friends.
Norma was born in Barrie, Ontario in May of 1930 and was the sixth child of seven siblings. Norma married John McDonald in 1957 in Trinidad and Tobago. She began her career with Foreign Affairs in Ottawa and soon moved to New York as an assistant to future Prime Minister Lester Pearson in 1956. She then moved to Caracas, Venezuela in 1957 to work for the Canadian Embassy during which time she met her future husband, John. Her first son, David, was born in 1958 in Liverpool, England and her second son, Peter, was born in Caracas in 1962. The family eventually lived in London, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Caracas. Norma moved back to Kitchener in 1970 where she worked at various administrative positions including at CKCO TV in Kitchener. Norma developed her passion for art, appearing in numerous exhibitions over the years in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. She also volunteered and taught at Kitchener’s Button Factory Art Center for many years.
Norma became a grandmother four times over and has four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, a younger sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Norma’s request there will be no services or memorials.
In Lieu of flowers friends may make a donation to the Button Factory, Waterloo, in her name.
