Loving husband of 49 years to Judy (nee Grieve), father of Jennifer, Kevin (Carolyn) and Hillary (Richard). He will be affectionately remembered by his grandchildren (Zachary, Sydney, Cody, Myles, Addison and Isabelle), as well as many friends and extended family.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Florence Fuss (nee Rosenberg). Paul is survived by his brother Melvyn (Susan) Fuss.
Paul was born in Kitchener, Ontario at KW Hospital (now Grand River Hospital) on January 31, 1945. He lived in Kitchener his entire life and was educated at Eastwood Collegiate (Kitchener) and subsequently Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo). His 38 working years were spent at BF Goodrich/Uniroyal/Michelin, from which he retired in the early 2000’s.
Paul met Judy at a bowling alley in Toronto during the summer of 1972. Paul had a passion for bowling and was part of a men’s bowling team that travelled to compete in Toronto every Friday evening. Paul and Judy married in Toronto on September 1, 1974, and then made their home in Kitchener in an apartment in the Stanley Park region. They moved to Dunsmere Court in 1975 where they raised their family.
Paul was an avid sports fan. In addition to his love for bowling, he had a passion for golf, baseball and hockey. In his retirement, he enjoyed watching and cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events. Paul and Judy loved to play cards with their friends and often hosted riveting games of Gin Rummy for which many coins were passed around the table. Paul also loved his weekly Poker games with his 6-8 buddies and this tradition carried on for many years. Paul and Judy loved to visit antique markets and Paul was proud of his collection of Goss pieces and Nascar memorabilia.
Paul and Judy loved to travel. They enjoyed their retirement years together with trips to Las Vegas, Florida, England, Scotland, Paris, and cruising the Mediterranean.
Paul’s family wishes to thank the wonderful doctor, nurses and support staff at Highview Residences, for the care and compassion they showed for Paul during these final months of his life. He is remembered there fondly as always sporting his Toronto Maple Leafs cap, even to sleep.
Expressions of sympathy and donations can be made on behalf of Paul Fuss to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or to Highview Residences to be coordinated through the funeral home.
Memorial Visitation will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St S, Kitchener on Tuesday, Jan 30, 2024, from 5:30-8:30pm.
