Scott was a father who loved his daughters fiercely. His girls, Kyla Way and Kaytlynn Way, were at the centre of his world, and there was very little he wouldn't do for them. He was protective in a way that left no question about how deeply he cared. He would have moved mountains, stood against the world, and burned the earth itself if it meant keeping his daughters safe. To Kyla and Kaytlynn, their dad was their first love, and that love will remain a part of them forever.
Scott had a unique sense of humour and always seemed to have the most unexpected information tucked away in his mind. He knew a little bit about just about everything and could surprise you with a random fact on almost any subject. He affectionately referred to it as “useless knowledge floating around in my head.” His endless supply of random facts and his one-of-a-kind humour were little things that made him who he was.
Scott loved reading, especially the works of Stephen King, and had a passion for horror movies, true crime, and the paranormal. These interests became something special that he shared with his daughters. Kyla and Kaytlynn grew up watching horror movies and exploring the strange, mysterious, and unexplained alongside their dad. Those shared experiences helped foster their own love of true crime and the paranormal, giving them memories and interests that will always connect them to him. Scott was also a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan.
Scott's life was not without hardship. He battled addiction for many years, facing challenges that were often difficult and painful. Following the loss of his beloved mother, Barbara, he experienced homelessness. Eventually, he was able to secure a bachelor apartment of his own, something that brought him genuine happiness. Having a place to call home again was an important milestone in his life, and one that meant so much to him.
Scott's life cannot be defined by his struggles and mistakes alone. He was a father, a son, and a brother, with his own humour, interests, quirks, and memories. His story held difficult chapters, but it also held love, laughter, and moments that his daughters will cherish for the rest of their lives. Above all, he will be remembered for the unwavering love he had for his girls.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Irvin Way, who passed away on March 4, 2009, and his mother, Barbara Way, who passed away on May 25, 2024. His daughters take comfort in the thought of him being reunited with his parents.
He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Kyla Way (Kyle Dusseault) and Kaytlynn Way (Jason Thompson), the mother of his daughters Cheri Doherty, and his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, who will carry his memory forward with love.
To honour Scotts's wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, on Monday, November 23rd, 2026, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Remembrances will be said at 2:30 pm.
Scott will be deeply missed. His daughters will carry forward the memories of movie nights, the random facts, the laughter, and the love that shaped their lives. No matter the hardships he faced, he will always be the dad who loved them with all of his heart and would have done anything for them.
He was their first love, their protector, and their dad. That love will live on in them, always.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our dad.
