Sharon Abel

October 2, 1956 – May 22, 2025

With deep sadness, we share the passing of Sharon Abel, who died peacefully in her hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, on May 22, 2025, at the young age of 68.

Beloved wife of Marc for 47 years, Sharon was the heart of her family—an endlessly devoted mother to Hilary (Paul), Bryan (Andi), and Chelsea (Adam), and a joyful Bubbie to Aerabelle, Alba, and Francis. She was a cherished sister to Steve (Lisa) and Yetta (Kevin), a loving aunt to Ali, and a loyal friend to so many, including her golden doodle Sparkle.

Sharon dedicated over 45 years of her life as a medical transcriptionist, ensuring countless patients received the care and accuracy they deserved. She also brought joy and celebration to others through her gift of event planning, helping family and friends mark their most important milestones.

A passionate volunteer with the Waterloo Ravens Girls Minor Hockey Association and a foster mom for many dogs over the years, Sharon lived a life of service. She was also a gifted crafter, finding happiness in needlepoint, knitting, crochet and more—always creating with love, beauty, and purpose.

Sharon will be remembered for her warmth, her sparkle and smile, her generous spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and community.

A funeral service will be held at Beth Jacob Synagogue, Kitchener, on Sunday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Beth Jacob Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to 589 Glendene Crescent, Waterloo following the funeral service, until 4pm and again at 1pm-4pm on Monday, May 26. Evening prayers will be at 7pm on both nights.
