Predeceased by his wife Shirley (2000). Dearest father to Donna (Tim) Voisin and David (Linda). Grandfather of Chris, Barron, Kyle, Emily (Kevin) and Tyler. Great-grandfather of Cameron, Travis, Sunday and Silver. Predeceased by his in-laws, Ev Sullivan and Mabel (affectionately called Mud), his siblings Marg (Howard), Bob (Ronna) and Ken (Betty).
Ted had a tumultuous childhood, as he was put in the care of children's aid. But he met Shirley in his teens at the Fox Theatre and his life changed for the better. He, an usher, and she, the candy girl. They had 42 years of a shared life, with many motorhome travels across North America.
Ted enjoyed a long life working. He worked as a route supervisor for Newtex Cleaners, and still visited the plant staff often over the years. After his time there, he worked as a courier of car parts and flowers. He simply loved to drive.
Ted was given the heart of one who would talk to anyone, anywhere. All that met him, and knew him, were regaled with his plethora of stories, which were rich and plentiful.
Ted was also a nature lover, and shared that enjoyment with his children, grandchildren and great grands. In his latter years, he continued to drive, visit friends and casinos (chuckle) and loved backing onto a bush, where he could be found feeding the neighbourhood wildlife.
Ted, and his stories, will be missed by his immediate family, all those who called him Grandpa Ted and a friend.
As per Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family interment to be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or to Family and Child Services, Waterloo Region or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
