Thelma Helen Beaubien

Thelma is lovingly remembered by her husband Ron of 51 years, her son Ken (Amanda), her daughter Sandra (Mike), and her cherished grandchildren Averie and Jadyn.

She is also survived by many members of Ron's family: Marcel (Muriel), Les (Gail), Art, Gerard (Teri), Raymond (Kitty), Charmaine (Bob), Valerie (Giampaolo), Yvonne (Keith), Anita (Stan), Marjorie (Don), Marie, and Rachelle (Dave).

Thelma was predeceased by her father Joseph Blank, her mother Doreen Taylor, and her brother-in-law Paul (Gayle).

Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Thelma had a deep love for both family and nature. Above all else, family meant everything to her.

Thelma was an accomplished public speaker and citizen scientist who inspired many people through her butterfly conservation work, both locally and throughout Ontario. Her front yard, known as Beau's Butterfly Garden, was home to 32 recorded butterfly species. It became the inspiration for her successful book and was a popular stop on local garden tours.

Her life list of 72 butterfly species observed across Ontario contributed valuable information for scientific research and conservation efforts.

Throughout Ron's career with Equitable Life and Gore Mutual, Thelma was a constant source of support and encouragement. She also enjoyed a career of her own, working for several years in sales and marketing roles.

The family would like to thank Dr. Molckovsky, Dr. Ikogho, Dr. MacMillan, Dr. Kuk, Dr. Yew, and the WRHN Cancer Centre for their care and support. They also extend their gratitude to the Ontario Health at Home staff and the Waterloo Hospice team for their compassion and assistance.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to join us on Thursday, June 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Westmount Golf and Country Club as we celebrate Thelma's life. Casual attire is encouraged.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Grand River Cancer Centre or to a nature organization of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre.
