I am really sory.
Now learned about my cousins death sentense.
The two of us lived throungh  in fact, a bank of the Danube.
But Tomi could no longer know the last loss,  I feel  the great loss of your relatíves.

Dear Family of Thomas Fahidy:  

We were very sad to find out by accident that Thomas had passed away on June 10, 2022.  An E-mail with music videos we sent to him earlier today was rejected.  We used Google to find more information about Thomas.  We were shocked and saddened when we found his obituary.

Thomas and I were in the same elementary school class in the early 1940's in Budapest, Hungary.  He was (and he remained) a  cheerful person.  We connected again about 30 years later.  He visited us in Ohio in the 1970's.  Later, Stephen visited him twice in Ontario.  We corresponded via E-mail regularly, and talked on the phone occasionally.

Thomas was an excellent professor,  a distinguished scholar,  a great family man,  and a person blessed with an outstanding sense of humor.  He always had sharp comments and hilarious jokes.  He loved his family and loved his profession.  

May he rest in peace.

We know that since the passing away of Thomas you have been going through a very-very difficult and sad period of your life.  Please accept our sincere condolences and sympathy.  We wish the best to you all,

I recently learnt about Dr.  Fahidy's passing and am sorry for your loss.  

I met Dr. Fahidy in the early 1990s when I approached him to set up English language courses for international graduate students at the University of Waterloo Faculty of Engineering. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Fahidy who took a chance in me, a young and brand new English teacher.

It was such a pleasure to work with Dr. Fahidy who was unassuming, down-to-earth, and cared deeply for his students.  Upon leaving the University in 1996, he wrote me a glowing recommendation letter which I am still in possession of.  

I currently live in Hawaii and am grateful to have met Dr. Fahidy who, touched my life with his generosity and wisdom.

Very sorry to hear of Tom's death. He was a colleague and friend to my husband, Ken. I have many fond memories of Tom and the years at U of W.  Condolences to his family.  Pat O'Driscoll

Tom was a special friend, and a father figure, and his shared wisdom and his humour (in many languages, including Hungarian, and French) were invaluable!  Tom was an amazing human soul who overcame so many triumphs and yet showed his humbleness. A real Treasure & character of Strengths. 

Jeremy and I are grateful for the time we had with Tom these couple of weeks, months & years either in person, over the phone, or via email  ... especially during these past two years! 

... so appreciated our 33 years of friendship and amazing quality time we had together, the advise and stories Tom had shared with us and experienced great memories, including with  Sharee, and all the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Besides Tom's research papers, the quality of his teaching hard courses at the University of Waterloo, in the Faculty of Chemical Engineering,  his attitude of approachability towards faculty, staff & students were appreciated and those who knew him well knew that Tom cared about everyone to succeed in life and made an instant impression! ...he tried to put smiles on people's faces, and he shared his positive attitude with so many people (even during the most challenging times) as he believed to put things at ease and make things better for all of us. 

We are smiling, looking up but also crying (happy tears as we are missing our beloved Friend and Father figure) inside as Tom has touched many people's hearts & imprinted many great memories that will never leave us! 

Thank you Tom for being You, you are one of a kind and we are very blessed to get to know and spend time with you all these years! We Love you and your family!

Tom was my professor in 4th year at UWaterloo, and inspired me to concentrate on Systems and Control Theory in graduate school. We later became colleagues and friends when I joined the Chemical Engineering Faculty.
Tom was a good teacher, a great researcher, a fine colleague, but most of all, a friend who supported me in good and bad times.  HIs sense of humour was, let's be fair, somewhat odd, but funny. We didn't see each other that much in the last years, but when we did, we instantly reconnected. I will miss him!
Sadly, I will not be able to be at his graveside service, owing to a conflicting medical appointment, but my thoughts will be with his family as they lay him to rest.

I remember Tom from my days as an undergraduate and graduate student.  Always cheerful and smiling.  Rest in Peace Tom.
