Charles "Charlie" Alvin Pruitt Sr., age 85 of Corryton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. He served in the Air Force as an AP Police Officer. Charlie was an Iron Worker at Allied Steel and retired from Eagle Bend Manufacturing Company. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and spent most of his retirement years on the banks of the Tennessee River. Charlie will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit and love for his family. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member and former deacon at New Hope Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings. Charlie is survived his children, Debbie (Allen) Rasar, Chuck (Peggy) Pruitt Jr., Denise (Dana) Hamilton, Greg (Judy) Pruitt, Angie (Johnny) Sutton; brother, John (Mary) Pruitt; grandchildren, Erin Rasar, Eric (Brittany) Rasar, Rachel Hafner, Stephen Pruitt, Julia (Michael) Gibson, Derek (Dawn) Hamilton, Dylan (MacKenzie) Pruitt, Jake Pruitt, Wilson Pruitt, Herbert and Hart Tolliver; nine great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Jo E. Brown; many friends and loving neighbors.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00-7:00pm with a funeral to follow at Berry-Lynnhurst Funeral Home 2300 Adair Avenue, Knoxville with Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Family and friends will meet on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Bells Campground Cemetery, 7905 Bells Campground Road, Knoxville for a 1:00pm graveside service. Charlie will have full military honors and his grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O.
